The 2025 APA Conference- African Potato Association Registration


The African Potato Association (APA) is pleased to invite researchers, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and development practitioners to the 13th Triennial APA Conference to be held at the Speke Resort Hotel in Munyonyo, Kampala-Uganda from May 25 to 30, 2025. This landmark event will bring together leading experts and partners to share insights, innovations, and strategies to advance potato and sweetpotato value chains in Africa.

The 2025 APA Conference will focus on the role of innovation, research, and partnerships in building resilient, sustainable, and inclusive value chains for potato and sweetpotato. The conference will serve as a platform to showcase cutting-edge scientific advancements, highlight transformative technologies, and foster collaborative networks across Africa and beyond.

All participants are required to officially register. The registration fee of $360 (UGX 1,350,000) for the APA 2025 conference will cover membership of APA for two years and services related to the organization of the conference like;

  • Poster area
  • Lunches on conference days.

** Participants shall be required to pay an extra $70 (UGX 262,500) to participate in field visits.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The APA is pleased to invite researchers, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and development practitioners to submit abstracts for the conference.

The conference sub-thematic areas includes:

  1. Crop improvement: Developing superior varieties meeting changing farmer and consumer demands.
  2. Public-Private approaches for improving Seed Systems: Policies and approaches for improving access to high quality seed
  3. Regenerative agri-food systems: Improving farmers productivity and income through scaling crop intensification and diversification in the context of resilient agri-food systems
  4. Pest and disease management for the current and future climate: Understanding and tackling of pests and diseases
  5. Linking production systems to market opportunities: Adapting and re-orientating Agriculture and food systems to markets
  6. Nutritious agri-food systems: Agriculture for food security and human health

Guidelines for abstract submission

  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words
  • Include the title, author(s), affiliation(s), and contact email
  • Abstracts should clearly indicate the sub-theme under which the work falls
  • Use clear and concise language, highlighting the problem, methodology, key findings, and significance of the work
  • All abstracts must be submitted in English

Abstract submission dates:

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: April 20, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: April 30, 2025

Abstracts should be submitted during the official conference registration or sent via the conference email i.e. apauganda@naro.go.ug
